Kumiawase (組み合わせ), meaning combination or arrangement in japanese. Through this idea, the KUMI bag brings together contrasting textures and directions within a single sculptural piece.
Crafted using the traditional arashi shibori technique, the bag plays with vertical and horizontal pleating (tate-yoko), creating a structured silhouette.
Designed for everyday use, KUMI balances form and function with a compact yet practical interior. It features a flat bottom for stability, an inner pocket for essentials, and a small-to-medium capacity.
The signature OMITSUTA adjustable strap allows multiple ways to wear the bag: as a handbag, shoulder bag, or crossbody. Its adjustable system is designed with a loop on one side and a strap on the other, allowing a custom fit secured by a simple knot.
Each piece is made to order and fully customizable in your choice of interior and exterior color combinations. Please note that the outer fabric is thinner than the inner layer and may become slightly translucent depending on lighting (especially with light tones such as white or pale blue.) The interior color therefore subtly influences the final appearance of the exterior.
The bag is slowly crafted in Geneva, Switzerland, with careful attention to detail and finish. It features a matte exterior and a satin interior, a durable YKK zipper. The polyester fabric allows the shibori pleats to be permanently set into the fiber, making the bag machine washable on a cold cycle.
Each KUMI bag is unique. Due to the handmade shibori process, slight variations in shape and measurements are part of its character. The perceived volume may also shift depending on how full the bag is, giving it a dynamic and living form.
